TECHNICAL PROPERTIES, QUALITY CONTROL GUDELINES AND NORMS

For Centrifugal Casting

Thanks to their properties, SIZIN zinc alloys are suitable for casting small-quantity productions, even using limited equipment.
Their positive characteristies can be appreciated when used to prepare moulds for plastics and for sheet slitting, and for casting in rubber moulds. These are:
· quick and easy moulds manufacturing;
· long-lasting moulds;
· easily cast with extremely limited tolerances, allowing considerable reductions in finishing work using machine tools;
· Simar produces three types of alloy: SIZIN 1, SIZIN 2, SIZIN S.

SIZIN 1
Its level of flowability when molten, low melting point and the ease it melts, together with very constant linear solidification shrinkage, allow the alloy SIZIN 1 to be used in any foundry, even those with limited equipment. Another fundamental feature is the fact that it can be re-utilised for several castings (up to 3) without the properties of the composition and castability being altered.

SIZIN 2
With properties similar to those of SIZIN 1 (low melting point, level of flowability when molten, etc.), this alloy can be used to produce moulds rapidly and easily. Its anti-friction properties combined with its degree of hardness ensure high performance in forging mild steel plate; moreover, it is still quickly and easily worked with machine tools.

SIZIN S
The most evident advantages of this recently formulated alloy, SIZIN S, are its low casting temperature, which permit a noteworthy saving of energy and decrease in the consumption of rubber moulds, its optimum degree of flowability, constant linear shrinkage and its considerable elasticity. It does not required to be mixed and can be centrifugally cast with rubber moulds. It is easy to work on machine tools and for use in electroplating. The high level of flowability makes it ideal for producing even complicated castings, without particular difficulties. Particularly indicated for accessories in the clothing sector (buckles, buttons and decorative components in general) and for the production of moulds, it can be used to obtain walls with limited thickness, thanks to a good level of elasticity combined with high mechanical specifications.
