TECHNICAL PROPERTIES, QUALITY CONTROL
GUDELINES and NORMS
The production of Zamas
zinc alloys for pressure die-casting includeds three selected
alloys. These are the result of in-depth experience and usage
tests that place them at the forefront of the range of European
products. Our laboratories constantly monitor each production base
to ensure that compositions and physical properties comply with
those required by the strictest international standards. Within
the temperature limits set by their quality of mid-melting alloys,
Zamas alloys can be used for a wide range of utilizations and
their field of application continue to increase, thanks to
continous research performed by specialised laboratories.
Their high level of flowability and low melting point offer
noteworthy advantages in pressure die-casting with metal moulds
(hot chamber casting). The high standard of cast pieces means that
they are suitable for precision castings and subsequently allows
pieces to be finished with extreme ease ( painting, nickel-plating,
chrome-plating, etc.).
The three alloys have similar general properties, although each
has been prepared to exalt either one property or a combination of
properties. This can be seen by comparing the typical mechanical
specifications of castings required by the standards (UNI 3718).
ZAMAS 12
Among Zamas alloys, Zamas 12
is the one with the highest degree of hardness and tensile
strength.
ZAMAS 13
Zamas 13 stands out for its
excellent resistance to impact and has the highest dimensional
stability through time. High level of resistance to corrosion when
exposed to severe weather conditions.
ZAMAS 15
Added to high degree of tensile strength of Zamas
15 are resistance to impact and dimensional stability
through time similar to those obtained with the alloy Zamas 13. It
also has a high level of resistance to corrosion, even in critical
weather conditions.
